FAQ

The questions people actually ask in their first week with OptimizeCamp, answered straight — no marketing spin, with links to the full explanation where one exists.

How this compares to what you know

Is this the same as SEO?

Not quite. SEO ranks you on a page of links; AEO/GEO — what OptimizeCamp does — makes you more likely to be named inside a generated AI answer, where there’s no list to rank on at all. Good SEO habits (clear structure, real answers to real questions) help both disciplines, and OptimizeCamp doesn’t touch classic ranking signals like backlinks or Core Web Vitals — it’s a different, complementary discipline, not a replacement. See How this compares to SEO.

How is this different from a rank tracker?

A rank tracker watches your position on a page of ten blue links. That position doesn’t exist in AI search — an AI answer isn’t a ranked list, it’s one generated response. OptimizeCamp instead runs your real questions against ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews and measures whether you’re mentioned, whether you’re cited, how prominently, and with what tone — the closest thing AI search has to a “rank.” See Metrics & the Visibility Score.

Can I track more than ChatGPT and Google?

Not yet. OptimizeCamp tracks two answer engines today — ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, the two largest AI answer surfaces. The platform layer underneath is built so a new engine (Perplexity, Gemini, and Copilot are the likely next additions) is one more adapter, not a rebuild — but until one ships, those platforms aren’t tracked. See Answer engines we track.

Setup & what you need

Do I need to connect WordPress?

No. WordPress sync is the fastest way to build a full content inventory and lets fixes publish straight back as drafts, but it’s entirely optional. You can bring any page in by importing its live URL, or by pasting or writing content directly — on every plan, no WordPress required. See Your content inventory and Connecting WordPress.

How many prompts and competitors can I track?

Caps are set per plan:

PlanTracked promptsCompetitors per project
Starter253
Pro100, pooled across projects5
Agency300, pooled across projects10

Active and paused prompts both count against your cap; archived ones don’t. Full details, including what happens as you approach a limit, are in Plans, quotas & credits.

How measurement works

What’s the difference between a mention and a citation?

A mention is your brand’s name appearing anywhere in the answer’s text. A citation is a specific URL of yours linked as a source the AI drew on. You can be mentioned without being cited — named, but nothing of yours linked — or, less commonly, cited without a text mention. OptimizeCamp tracks both as separate signals rather than folding them into one number. See Mentions, citations & share of voice.

How often are my prompts run?

It depends on your plan’s cadence, set per platform: Starter runs weekly plus 2 on-demand runs a month; Pro and Agency run Google AI daily and ChatGPT three times a week, plus 10 and 40 on-demand runs respectively (1 credit covers up to 50 prompts). On top of that, your very first batch — the baseline — runs immediately during onboarding, and you can trigger a fresh “Run tracking now” batch by hand any time nothing else is already running for that project. See Plans, quotas & credits and Running a tracking cycle.

Why do my results change day to day?

A few real reasons, not a bug. AI answers aren’t fixed text — the same prompt can get a differently-worded (or differently-decided) answer from one run to the next, and Google’s AI Overview legitimately doesn’t trigger for every query, so “no answer” some days is expected, not broken. With a modest number of tracked prompts, a single flipped answer can swing a percentage-based metric like Mention Rate by several points on its own. To keep one noisy result from reading as a trend, visibility alerts compare your score against a trailing 7-day average and wait for 2 independent tracking runs to confirm the drop. Other change alerts likewise require repeated measured evidence. See Troubleshooting for the full breakdown.

Results, trust & data

How long until I see impact from a fix?

Every publish opens a Verification window: by default, the next 2 tracking runs on that page’s matched prompts (or 14 days, whichever comes first) have to land before an Impact Card shows a verdict. How long that takes in real time depends on your cadence — on a daily plan it’s usually a couple of days; on a weekly plan, use an on-demand “Run tracking now” if you don’t want to wait for the next scheduled run. See Impact Cards & wins.

Is my content used to train AI models?

No. Your content and the AI answers OptimizeCamp captures are never used to train third-party AI models, and you control whether they’re used to improve OptimizeCamp itself. Separately, of course, any page you publish publicly on the open web can be read by ChatGPT or Google the same way it reads any other public page — that’s the whole point of earning a citation.
