The Optimization Queue

With dozens or hundreds of pages in your content inventory, the real question isn't 'what's wrong with this page' — it's 'which page do I fix first.' The Optimization Queue answers that with one number: the Priority Score.

What the queue is

The Optimization Queue is your content inventory table, sorted worst-first by Priority Score — a free, 0–100 score computed for every page automatically, without spending an audit credit. It answers a specific question: of everything in my library, which page is costing me the most AI visibility right now?

A high Priority Score doesn’t mean a page is badly written — it means fixing that page has the most headroom to gain: prompts it should be winning but isn’t, citations competitors hold instead, thin structure, or a page nobody has touched in a long time. The score is recomputed whenever it goes stale — after every import, sync, edit, or when you press Recompute — so it never lags far behind what Module 1 actually measured on your last tracking runs.

How the Priority Score works

Priority is a weighted blend of four components. Each is scored 0–100, where 100 always means “fix this now” and 0 means “healthy, leave it.” The two components that read your real AI-answer performance — Prompt Opportunity and Citation Gap — carry the most weight, followed by the page’s own quality and how stale it is.

When a component doesn’t apply to a page — for example Citation Gap on a page with no matched prompts — it simply drops out and the rest take over, so every page still gets a fair, comparable score across whichever signals actually ran.

Prompt Opportunity

For every tracked prompt this page is matched to (see how matching works below), OptimizeCamp looks at your measured Visibility Score on that prompt and asks how much room is left to gain — the lower your visibility on a prompt, the more opportunity that page carries — averaged across its matched prompts and discounted by how confident each page-to-prompt match is. A page matched to prompts where you’re already winning scores low here; a page matched to prompts where you’re invisible scores high. A page with no matched prompts gets no Prompt Opportunity component at all — the other three carry the score.

Citation Gap

A graded read on whether AI answers actually cite this specific page, based on real citation history from your tracking runs. From most urgent to least, a page can be:

  1. Cited on a matched prompt before, but it just lost that citation — the strongest signal to act.
  2. Never cited on its matched prompts while a competitor currently is.
  3. Cited, but on only a minority of its matched prompts.
  4. Healthily cited — no signal to chase here.

Citation Gap only applies to pages with a live URL, at least one matched prompt, and at least one answered tracking run — a brand-new draft with nothing to measure yet simply skips this component.

Quality Deficit

The inverse of the page’s QuickScore — the weaker the page’s structure, the higher this runs. This is the only component that’s purely about the page itself rather than how it’s performing in AI answers — thin structure, no FAQ, no schema, and similar structural gaps push it up.

Staleness

How long since the page’s content actually changed, on a rolling two-year scale. A page last touched two years ago or more hits the ceiling; a page updated this week scores near zero. This is based on the page’s real content-changing edits — audit reports and pre-publish snapshots don’t count as a “change” here, only imports and edited content, so re-auditing a page doesn’t artificially reset its staleness clock.

The “why” chips

A number alone doesn’t tell you what to do. Every row in the queue shows up to a handful of short chips underneath its Priority Score explaining the biggest drivers behind it — for example:

“Lost citation on ‘best project management tools’” · “Competitors cited on 4 matched prompts” · “No FAQ or schema” · “Updated 14 months ago”

These chips are generated from the same components that built the score — a lost citation or competitor presence takes priority over a generic staleness note, and a page with no matched prompts at all says so plainly, since that’s often the real fix (getting the page matched to the right prompts, not rewriting it).

How pages get matched to prompts

Prompt Opportunity, Citation Gap, and the audit’s AI-visibility dimension all depend on knowing which of your tracked prompts a given page is actually relevant to. OptimizeCamp matches pages to prompts automatically using weighted keyword overlap — no LLM call, so it runs instantly and for free every time content or prompts change.

Each prompt’s meaningful words (common words like “the” and generic terms like “best” are ignored) are checked against a page’s title, headings, meta description, and lead paragraph — weighted in that order, so a word that appears in the title counts far more than one buried in the body. Words that match your own brand name are down-weighted, so a branded prompt doesn’t match every page on your site just because your brand is mentioned everywhere. A page keeps at most eight auto-matched prompts, ranked by confidence.

Note

If an auto-match is wrong, or you want to force a match the algorithm missed, you can pin or unpin matches by hand from the editor’s matched-prompts panel — pinned and unpinned matches are remembered and never overwritten by the automatic re-matching that runs after every content change.
